Wayne H. Weaver

Wayne H. Weaver, 58, of Palatine Bridge, New York and formerly of the Oppenheim and Dolgeville, New York areas, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Little Falls Hospital, Little Falls, New York with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on July 3, 1965 in Little Falls, New York and is the son of Harold E. Weaver and the late, Betty A. (Cool) Weaver. Wayne was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1983. He furthered his education and attended classes at Mohawk Valley Community College.

Wayne enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 8, 1985 in Syracuse, New York. His three-year active-duty term earned him the Air Force Basic Military TNG Honor Graduate Ribbon, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Overseas Tour Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He received an honorable discharge on August 25, 1988 from  HQ USAF Academy in Colorado when he then continued his last year of his four-year enlistment in the United States Air Force Reserves which continued to his final service on August 7, 1993.

On June 8, 1991, Wayne was united in marriage to Robin S. Smith at the Dolgeville United Methodist Church in Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared 32 years of marriage together and raised their son, Jabin, in a loving home.

Wayne was employed as an Emergency Services 911 Dispatcher/ OIC Officer In Charge/ Shift Supervisor for the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in Johnstown, New York.  He recently celebrated 30 years of dedicated service to his community and county.  He was also a member of the Canajoharie-Fort Plain BPOE #2621 Elks Lodge, Canajoharie Moose Lodge, and was a long-time dedicated member of the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department where he served as Past Chief as well as several other officer positions.

Wayne was best known for being fun loving and his larger than life personality. A friend to anyone he met, Wayne was always ready for a good time and was wise beyond his joking exterior. In his younger years, Wayne enjoyed summers fishing at Peck’s Lake, snowmobiling with friends, bowling and softball with the Hilltop Fire Department. He was also the honorary chef of K-9 Concrete. Wayne and his wife, Robin shared years of cherished memories traveling to watch baseball games, date night trips to the casino and many good times and laughs with their closest friends.

Above all else, Wayne’s greatest joy was watching and supporting his son’s sporting events, primarily his baseball career, watching him go from little league to high school to college and now a college coach. Wayne was always the biggest supporter, biggest fan, who took selfies with just about every mascot and has stolen game balls from every visited ballpark.

Wayne’s heart and pride only grew when he gained the title of Grampi with the birth of his grandson, Walker Jabin, who brought so much love to his life. A devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Wayne will be deeply missed by all who had the honor to have known him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Robin S. Weaver at home; a special son and daughter-in-law, Jabin and Victoria Weaver of Blue Bell, PA; a cherished grandson, Walker J. Weaver of Blue Bell, PA; his loving father, Harold E. Weaver of Oppenheim, NY; a sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Leland “Butch” Carpenter of Oppenheim, NY; mother-in-law, Bonnie Smith of Oppenheim, NY; in-laws, Richard “Ricky” Smith, Jr. and his wife, Kelly of Broadalbin, NY and Tim Estey of Oppenheim, NY; special nieces and nephews, Becky McAdams and her husband, Vincent of Oppenheim, NY, Cory Carpenter of Dolgeville, NY, Jayda Estey of Oppenheim, NY; great-nieces, Audrina McAdams and Gianna McAdams of Oppenheim, NY; great-aunt, Doris Wengenack of Nelliston, NY; an uncle, John Cool; an aunt, June Young, both of Oppenheim, NY; several cousins; many special friends; and a supportive work family within the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department.

Wayne was predeceased by his beloved mother, Betty A. Weaver on December 4, 2023, a sister-in-law, Gail (Smith) Estey and his father-in-law, Richard Smith, Sr.

A Celebration of Life Reception and Ceremony will be held on Friday afternoon, February 23, 2024, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the Elks Lodge Old Station Rd, Nelliston, NY 13410. The formal service will begin at 4:30 p.m. with a prayer service followed by the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department with John Houle, fire department Chaplin. Words will be offered by Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino and Wayne’s friend, Keith Schults. The United States Air Force Military Honor Guard will accord their funeral honors at the conclusion of the service. A reception will follow the formal services. All are welcome to attend to celebrate the life and love of Wayne H. Weaver.

Wayne enjoyed many years of watching his son’s baseball career and even acting as “The Voice” of Fort Plain Baseball during his son’s tenure.
