Mr. Allen J.P. Youker, 95, of 287 Gray Youker Road St. Johnsville, Town of Oppenheim, died Monday September 10, 2018 at the Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls, where he was recovering from hip surgery. Mr. Youker would have been 96 on Saturday.
He was born in Oppenheim on September 15th, 1922 the son of John and Birdella (Allen) Youker, and attended country schools.
A veteran of WWII he served honorably in the United States Army, from July 1944 until he was discharged in April of 1947 with the rank of PFC. He was with Company C 29th Infantry Regiment, serving as a rifleman. He was wounded in action on January 27, 1945 in Luxemburg. He served in the following campaigns, Rhineland, Ardennes, and in Central Europe, earning his Purple Heart in Luxemburg.
Mr. Youker was last employed by the Daniel Green Company in the maintenance department, retiring from there in 1984. He was also very handy in carpentry, and as a electrician and general handyman.
He is survived by his sons Allen J. Youker, and Carl and his wife Linda Youker both of Oppenheim, his daughters Linda, Sharon and Winnie, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter in law Sharon Youker on July 20, 2015 and his brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00PM at the Roberts Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Stratford Cemetery. Calling hours are on Friday September 14th, from 11:00 till 1PM.
