Ruth M. Kovits Obituary

Ruth M. Kovits, 88, of Dolgeville, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, September 9, 2020 at FoltsbrookCenter in Herkimer, New York.

She was born on February 3, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of the late, Henry and Alma (Wunstel) Vatter. Ruth was educated in the Brooklyn School System and graduated with the Class of 1950.

On August 29, 1953, Ruth was united in marriage to Frederick J. Kovits in Brooklyn, New York. The couple shared a loving union of 25 years when Fred passed away unexpectedly on December 9, 1978.

For most of her life, Ruth worked at numerous secretarial positions. She was last employed with the New York State Attorney Generals Office as a legal secretary in Utica, New York and retired after many years of service.

Ruth was of the Catholic faith.  She loved to crochet, knit, sew and do ceramics. Ruth also enjoyed reading and watching movies.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family.

She is survived by her beloved children, Karen Madison and her husband, Robert of Denver, CO, Fred Kovits and his wife, Yvonne of Salisbury Center, NY, and Charlene Wood of Little Falls, NY; her special grandchildren, Shawna Krause and her husband, Adam of Oakton, VA, Virgil Kovits Smith of Nantucket, MA, Chelsea Perri and her husband, Michael of Denver, CO, Brenden Kovits and his fiancée, Katie Whitecomb of Little Falls, NY, and Zachary Wood of Baldwinsville, NY; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Benjamin Perri, James Perri, Kevin Krause, and Imogen Krause.

A private memorial graveside service will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery in Salisbury Center, New York with Father Brian Slezak, Pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Dolgeville, New York officiating the service.
