Richard K. Jones, Sr.

We celebrate the life and morn the loss of a wonderful husband, Dad, grandfather, brother and uncle, Richard “Rick” Keith Jones, Sr. also known as, “Zeke”, 74, of Dolgeville, New York passed away on Friday evening, January 28, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, New York with his family by his side.

Richard was born on August 11, 1947 in Fort Totten, Long Island, New York and was the son of the late, Keith and Helen Jones. He attended Leonardsville High School and finished his studies at a trade school in 1966.

In October of 1966, Richard was drafted into the United States Army serving as an auto weapons crewman in the Vietnam War. He was a decorated soldier who received a Purple Heart. Richard was honorably discharged in September of 1968.

On March 17, 1984, Richard was united in marriage to Lois Carpenter at the Universalist Church in Salisbury, New York and have shared a union of 38 years together.

He was formerly employed by Edgars,Caryl, and Corrigan tire shop in Utica, New York where he was a valued employee of 22 years until his retirement.

In his spare time, Rick enjoyed being the best Dad, four wheeling, motorcycling, boating and was a music enthusiast. He loved dinners and BBQs with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Jones at home; his sons, Keith R. Jones and his wife, Kathleen of Florida; and Richard K. Jones, Jr. and his wife, Lee Ann of Fort Plain, NY; and his daughter, Jessie Jones of Dolgeville, NY; his beloved grandchildren, Americus and Tyler; As well as two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ileona and Jack Atwell of FL and Veronica and Ronald Baldwin of GA; Also beloved by several brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and he also leaves behind his favorite special Cat, “Millie”.

Richard was predeceased by his father and mother, Keith and Helen Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held this summer on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 12 p.m. (noon) at the Jones’ family home with the United States Army Honor Guard where he will be accorded military funeral honors. All are welcome to attend. The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home in conjunction with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, Dolgeville, New York.
