Nancy J. Hopson Obituary

Nancy J. Hopson, 73, of Dolgeville, New York passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday night, August 25, 2021 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York with her loving family by her side.

She was born on January 22, 1948 in Schenectady, New York and was the daughter of the late, John and Genevieve (Urban) Ausfeld. Nancy was educated at Bishop Gibbons High School and graduated with the Class of 1967. She then went on to attend Schenectady County Community College.

On June 15, 1974, Nancy was united in marriage to Donald E. Hopson in Schenectady, New York. The couple shared a union of 47 years where they raised their four children in a loving home. 

Nancy was formerly employed by Daniel Green Shoe Company, Dolgeville Central School and lastly, at the Village of Dolgeville as the Village Clerk's Assistant until her retirement in 2010.

Nancy was a parishioner of the Church of St. Adalbert in Schenectady, New York. She also enjoyed television shows in particular "Days of Our Lives", computer games, and Bingo. Always surrounded by her close knit family, her husband, children and grandchildren were those she held closest to her heart. She will be dearly missed by them.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Donald E. Hopson at home; children, Chad Hopson and his wife, Katherine, Amber Jeffers and her husband, Keith, Tina Jeffers, and Scott Hopson, all of Dolgeville; grandchildren, Justine Crossett and her husband, McCulley of AL, Shane Jeffers, Jr. of Utica, NY, Michael Hopson and his wife, Danika of ID, Ashley Hopson of St. Johnsville, NY, Dakota Jeffers, Lucas Hopson, Madison Jeffers, Logan Hopson, Parker Jeffers, Olivia Hopson and Eli Hopson; great-grandchildren, Aden Hopson of ID and Evalynn Hopson of ID; sisters in law, Marion Ausfeld of Schenectady, NY and Carol Rzeszot of Vestal, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, John and Genevieve Ausfeld; cherished grandson, Aaron Hopson; a brother, Robert Ausfeld; and a brother in law, Edward Rzeszot.

In keeping with family wishes, services are private. The family is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf St., Dolgeville, New York.
