Katherine "Katy" E. Caiola

Katherine "Katy" E. Caiola, 96, of Dolgeville, New York passed away peacefully on Monday evening, August 30, 2021 at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York.

She was born on November 20, 1924 in Dolgeville, New York and was the daughter of the late, Robert and Olga (Bajor) Kopp. Katy was educated at Dolgeville High School and graduated with the Class of 1942. She then went on to earn her degree in business from Utica Business School and graduated with the Class of 1944.

On July 2, 1950, Katy was united in marriage to Sam J. Caiola at the Lutheran Church in Herkimer, New York. The couple shared a union of 48 years where they raised their son, Robert in a loving home. Mr. Caiola passed away on December 14, 1998.

Katy was formerly employed as an Administrative Assistant with Daniel Green Shoe Company in Dolgeville, New York, retiring in 1954. She also spent the majority of her life as a dedicated homemaker.

She was of the Lutheran faith. Katy was an avid reader as well.

Katy is survived by her brother, Robert A. Kopp of Fayetteville, NY; a daughter-in-law, Christine Stiefel of Coral Gables, FL; nieces and nephews, Dr. Janice Rogers of Lincoln, NE, Robert H. Kopp of Fayetteville, NY, Richard Kopp of Cazenovia, NY, and Josephine Lee of Rome, NY; several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Sam J. Caiola, a son, Robert J. Caiola, a brother, Oswald Kopp and his wife, Marie, and a sister-in-law, Ruth Kopp.

A graveside service for Katy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Dolgeville Cemetery, West State Street, Dolgeville, New York where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Sam and son, Robert. The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York in conjunction with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, Dolgeville, New York.

Katy's family would like to thank family friend, Sharon Thomas as well as all of her home healthcare givers for their care, support and compassion throughout Katy's life. They made it possible for her to live in the comfort of her home until her passing and her family will be forever grateful for all their dedication.
