John A. Traskey Obituary

John A. Traskey, 57, most recently of Amsterdam, New York and a long time Little Falls, New York resident, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2020 with his loving family by his side.

He was born on June 5, 1962 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Raymond and Eunice (Smith) Traskey.  John was educated at several schools in the Mohawk Valley.

John was formerly employed with Little Falls Lumber as a laborer for several years.

In his spare time, John loved camping and fishing.  He was also skilled handyman and woodworker.  His most precious moments were spent in the company of his family.

He is survived by his companion of 27 years, Larania Gilchrist of Amsterdam, NY; his children, Scott and Lindsay of Whitesboro, NY, Matthew and Jessica of Utica, NY, John Jr. and Brytni of Hoffmeister, NY, Christopher and Katie of Salisbury Center, NY, Jason and Colleen of Oppenheim, NY, Dawn and Dan of Salisbury Center, NY, Mark and Brigid of Buffalo, NY, and Carrie and Sal of Amsterdam, NY; 25 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; step-brothers, Sidney Dolly of Gray, NY, Bill Dolly of Ilion, NY, Robert & Michelle Dolly of San Demas, CA, and Raymond and Glenda Dolly of Rock Mountain, NC; an uncle, Gerald Smith of Mohawk, NY; a special friend, Eugene Bevers, Jr. of Mohawk, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

John was predeceased by his parents and a step-brother, Ricky Dolly.

In keeping with John's wishes, there will be a graveside service held in the spring at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, New York,  where he will be laid to rest with his parents.
