Glen A. Boyer Obituary

Glen A. Boyer, 77, of Stratford, New York passed away unexpectedly on Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2021 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, New York.

He was born on January 5, 1944 in Starkville, New York and was the son of the late, Gaylord and Leona (Lamphere) Boyer. Glen was educated at Starkville and Van Hornsville Schools and received his high school education in the military in 1962.

Glen enlisted in the United States Army in 1963 and served in the Vietnam War in the 567th Transportation Company. After serving six years, he was honorably discharged.

While home on leave from serving his country, Glen married Linda L. Davenport in Ephratah, New York on January 19, 1966. The couple shared 55 years together raising their five children in a loving home.

He was formerly employed by FJG Railroad in Gloversville, New York as a welder by trade as well as a mechanic. Glen also worked at several local garages throughout his life. 

Glen was of the Pentecostal faith and attended Church of the Nazarene and a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed reading the Bible and listening to the Word of God. In his spare time, Glen liked to fish, tinker around and could fix anything as well as spend time with his family especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his close-knit family.

Glen is survived by his beloved wife, Linda L. Boyer at home; his loving children, Scott Boyer and his wife, Monica of Dolgeville, NY, Bonnie Boyer Downes and her husband, Joseph of Gloversville, NY, Wade Boyer of Mohawk, NY, Lee Anne Deuel and her husband, Tom of Broadalbin, NY, and Shawn Boyer of Salisbury, NY; a daughter-in-law, Shallon Boyer of Dolgeville, NY; special grandchildren, Britlyn Downes, Marie Downes, Amanda Boyer, Maddison Deuel, Michael Deuel, Matthew Boyer, Katlyn Boyer, Elijah Boyer, Brooke Boyer, Faith Boyer, Kenny Boyer, Zach Boyer, and Kyle Boyer, Dylan Balderston & Colby Bard; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence Dillenbeck of Sammonsville, NY; a brother, Ricky Boyer and his wife, Thelma of Stratford, NY; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Margaret and Tom Tarbox of West Winfield, NY and Eddie Green of Utica, NY.

He was predeceased by his parents, Gaylord and Leona Boyer and his brothers, John Boyer, Harold Boyer, Norman Boyer and Robert Boyer.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 12 p.m. (noon) with Pastor Mark Fowler officiating. Procession will follow to Curtis Cemetery for committal prayers.
