David C. Bliss Obituary

David C. Bliss, 80, of Dolgeville, New York passed away early Saturday morning, February 18, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica, New York.

He was born on December 15, 1942 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Earl and Mary (Mayville) Bliss. David was educated at Owen D. Young School and graduated with the Class of 1960.

On March 14, 1961, David enlisted in the Army. He served his country in the Army Infantry earning Sharpshooter, Marksman (Rifle), Marksman (Pistol), Army of Occupation Medal (Berlin) and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. After four years of service and being stationed in Germany, David received an honorable discharge on February 24, 1964.

David worked at several places of employment throughout his life. His last employment was at Gehring-Tricot where he retired after several years.

David enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. His favorite moments were spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his two daughters, Glenda Bliss of Dolgeville, NY and Monwella Bliss of Herkimer, NY; grandchildren, Amanda Macrina and her husband, Brandon of Mohawk, NY, Nathan Travis of Herkimer, Nichole Bliss and her fiancé, Lucas Granger of Dolgeville, NY, Shawna Leroy and her fiancé, Joey Carpenter of Dolgeville, NY, and Mathew Bulluck and his wife, Jazmine of Dolgeville, NY; great-grandchildren, Maebelle Macrina, Jaxson Carpenter, Mathew Bulluck, Jr., and Corbyn Granger; three brothers, Thomas Bliss of Little Falls, NY and Jackie Bliss of Vero Beach, FL, and Ronnie Bliss and his wife, Joanne of Birmingham, AL; and his former wife, Beverly (Sperl) Vickers of Dolgeville, NY; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

David was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph Bliss, Arnold Bliss and Freddie Bliss.

In keeping with family wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements are with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329.
