Daniel R. Rowley, Sr., 75, of the Town of Salisbury, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, March 29, 2023 at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York with the love and support of his family by his side.

He was born on February 2, 1948 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Patricia (Coffin) Lynch. Dan was educated at Little Falls High School.

On May 22, 1975, Dan was united in marriage to Gail Marie Johnson in Little Falls, New York. The couple shared a loving union of 42 years until her passing on December 25, 2017.

Dan was formerly employed with Daniel Green Shoe Company in Dolgeville, New York as an elevator operator until the factory closed.

Dan and his wife, Gail, were long-time volunteers for the Dolgeville Food Pantry. He enjoyed playing guitar and fishing. He was known as the family jokester and relished his tricks by putting candy and cough drops in people’s coffee, taping soda bottle tops, and even putting potatoes and other objects in people’s beds. Dan will be remembered for his good sense of humor and kindness for which he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his beloved children, Daniel R. Rowley, Jr. and his wife, Bonnie of Salisbury, NY; Sherri (Johnson) Quillan and her husband, William and Sherri’s companion, Erin Kinsella, all of Oppenheim, NY; loving grandchildren, Dustin Rowley and his companion, Jamie Ingraham of Salisbury, NY, Heidi Hogan of Herkimer, NY, and Wyatt Rowley of Salisbury Center, NY; sisters and brothers, Debra Cook, of Utica, NY, Barry Rowley and his wife, Donna of Ilion, NY, Bernard Weaver and his wife, Robin Gay of Ilion, NY; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Eddie Johnson and his wife, Wanda of Dolgeville, NY, Joey Johnson of Fort Plain, NY, Kim Markwardt of Gloversville, NY, Gordon Johnson and his companion, Karin of Gloversville, NY, Silvia Johnson of Oppenheim, NY; many very loved nieces and nephews; and special friends, Monty Snyder and Howie Carpenter.

Dan was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gail M. (Johnson) Rowley, his missed, loved and cherished daughter, Linda C. Rowley, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 22, his mother, Patricia (Coffin) Rowley-Weaver-Lynch, step-fathers, Raymond Lynch and Bernard Weaver; sister, Linda A. Rowley, brothers-in-law, Brian Johnson and Brad Cook; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Filkins, and Elaine Johnson; father and mother-in-law, Gordon and Helen Johnson, and Bonnie Rowley’s mother, Linda (Cafferillo) Phillips.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329. A memorial service will be held immediately following the calling hours at 5 p.m. also at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Worley officiating. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 3 p.m. at the Salisbury Rural Cemetery where Dan will be laid to rest with his wife. Immediately following the service, all are welcome to a Celebration of Life Reception at the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department Pavilion. The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home staff alongside the staff of Miller-Plonka Funeral Home.

The Rowley Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Little Falls Hospital who helped his family through Dan’s final hours and to the kind people of the Salisbury Volunteer Fire Department and the local ambulance services who assisted Dan in his times of need.
