Arnold E. Saltsman Obituary

Arnold E. Saltsman, 66, of Scotch Bush, Town of Ephratah, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at his home.

He was born on May 4, 1956 in Gloversville New York and was the son of the late, Glenn and Henrietta (Musgrave) Saltsman. Arnold was educated at Fonda-Fultonville Central School and graduate with the Class of 1974.

On February 28, 1976, Arnold was united in marriage to Patricia Anne Seeley at the Fonda Reformed Church in Fonda, New York. The couple shared 35 years of marriage when Pat passed away on June 7, 2011.

Arnold was formally employed as a welder at American Ornamental in Gloversville, New York and Cherry Burrows in Little Falls, New York for over 40 years. He owned his own business called A. Saltsman Welding for 13 years and created many relationships within his business during that time.

In his spare time, Arnold enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on the house he had been building over the last 30 years. He was a true family man and loved his children, grandchildren, his good neighbors and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Arnold is survived by his children, Michelle Haynesworth and her husband, Douglas of Raleigh, NC and Clinton Saltsman and his wife, Polly of Oppenheim, NY; five special grandchildren, Keith Saltsman of Lynn Haven, FL, Leila Haynesworth of Raleigh, NC and Kailah Haynesworth of Raleigh, NC, David Becker and his wife, Stephanie of Ohio, NY and Ryan Becker and his fiancée, Tiffany Smith of St. Johnsville, NY; brothers, Gerald Saltsman and his wife, Beatrice of Fonda, NY, Glenn Saltsman of Fonda, Leslie Saltsman and his wife, Jean of Fort Ann, NY; in-laws, Kathleen and David Ferguson of Oppenheim, NY, Heather and Richard Rathbun of Little Falls, NY, Sandra “Sam” and George Siver of Oppenheim, NY, Glenn and Sue Seeley of Columbus, IN, and Gerald Morell of Fort Plain, NY; close nephew, Kurt Saltsman of Fonda, NY; good friend, Joe Peruzzi of Lassellsville, NY; his beloved dog, Roscoe; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife, Patricia A. Saltsman, a sister, Ila Bortell and her husband, Ronnie Bortell, and sisters-in-law, Maria Saltsman and Elizabeth “Betty” Morell and his cherished pup, Jack. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. A funeral service will immediately follow calling hours at 6 p.m. also at the funeral home. A private graveside service will be held at Brown Cemetery in Oppenheim, NY where he will be laid to rest with his wife, Pat.
