Mr. Schilbe was employed as a Art Teacher for the Dolgeville Central School for over 34 years, retiring from there in 1985. While at Dolgeville he helped many students not only with his artistic ability but also helped them in many of “life’s challenges”.

His personal interests were in photography and gardening, especially his tulips and roses. He often could be seen in his gardens working to cultivate the flowers. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to his family’s native country, Badsooden Allendorf, Germany and throughout Europe. One of the high lights of his day for many years was going to Motor’s Inn in Dolgeville sharing words of wisdom over “politics” and general concerns.
