Duane J. Wright, 93,of Dolgeville passed away peacefully on April 5th at the Alpine Rehabilitation Center in Little Falls, New York.

A lifelong area resident, Duane was born on September 8, 1923 in Dolgeville, the son of the late Harry (Count) and Marion Wright.

He attended the Dolgeville Central School and after graduating, Duane enlisted in the Army Air Corp during WWII where he was a pilot and flew many missions including gliders across the Rhine.  He married his high-school sweetheart, Carolyn Walker, pre-deceased, of Dolgeville, in September 1944.

When Duane returned home from the war in 1945 he and Carolyn increased their family by three and settled in Dolgeville where Duane worked at Univac for many years and then Fermer Tool & Die.

Duane is survived by his son, Duane L. (Mary) Wright of Greenfield Center, NY; daughters Donna (John) Borst of Loveland, CO and Gale (Daniel) Comstock of Dolgeville, NY. also his sister Jacqueline (Al) McCarthy of Dolgeville, NY.  He was pre-deceased by his brother, Harry Wright of Dolgeville.  He enjoyed his eight grandchildren Michaeleen (Kurt) Martin, Erin (Tracy John) Matulonis, Carter Borst, Joel Borst, Franklin (Hauna) Borst, Jason (Tammy) Comstock, Colin (Michelle) Comstock and Lindsay (Brian) Randall as well as eleven great-grandchildren, nieces nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, April 9th from 12:00-1:00 pm and a service immediately following  at the Roberts Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville.  Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to any local animal shelter since he was a true animal lover.

Duane’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all caregivers at  home and the Alpine Rehabilitation Center for their care and support over this past year.
