Carole D. Broadbent Obituary

Carole D. Broadbent, 84, of Oppenheim, New York and formerly of Dolgeville, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, February 23, 2024 at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation in the Town of Johnstown, New York.

She was born on June 3, 1939 in Keeseville, New York and was the daughter of the late, Ellery and Mary (Martin) Perkett and was the last surviving child of 12 siblings. Carole was educated at Ilion High School where she graduated with the Class of 1957.

On July 6, 1957, Carole was united in marriage to Lester F. Broadbent in Ilion, New York and raised their ten children in a loving home. The couple shared a union of nearly 50 years of marriage when Lester passed away on June 12, 2007.

Along with her husband, Carole was the owner and operator of Country Variety on Main Street in Dolgeville, New York for many years until her retirement. She was of the Catholic faith.

In her spare time, she enjoyed crafting, knitting and crocheting. A quiet but loving woman, Carole was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her large family.

She is survived by her children, Wendie Evangelow and her husband, James of Exeter Center, New York, Ruth Palmatier and her husband, Lysle of Unadilla Forks, NY, Ellery Broadbent of Gloversville, NY, Donald Broadbent of Herkimer, NY, Patricia Genske of Exeter Center, NY, Deanna Windecker and her husband, William Jr. of Oppenheim, NY, Leslie Broadbent and his wife, Stacey of FL, and Marlene Woodward of Dolgeville, NY; 34 grandchildren; 36 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many extended family members.

Carole was predeceased by her two daughters, Wanda Zoch and Wanita Barletta.

In keeping with family wishes, a private memorial will be held at a later date and she will be laid to rest with her husband, Lester at Exeter Center Cemetery in Exeter Center, New York.

The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home along with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York 13329, Cremations and Funerals.
