Mr. William “Lee” Bynon ,76, of 36 Van Buren Street Dolgeville, a former Executive Vice President of the Daniel Green Shoe Company of Dolgeville, died Sunday September 24, 2017, at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.

 

Lee was born in Kingston, PA. on February 12, 1941 the son of William J. and Jean E. (Reiser) Bynon and moved to the Dolgeville area with his parents as a young child. Lee was a graduate of Dolgeville High School, class of 1959. He continued his education by attending Cortland College.

 

He was united in marriage to Jane Ellen Peterson on March 27, 1976 in Rochester, New York. They celebrated 41 years of marriage this past March.

 

Lee began his career at Daniel Green Shoe Company, first working summers in the factory, then moving into the position of sales. He continued with the company working his way up to Executive Vice President, prior to the company closing. He was with Daniel Green’s for over 29 years.

 

Upon his retirement Lee and his wife Jane opened Kati’s Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor from 2004-2010 on Main Street in Dolgeville.

 

Lee’s community spirit was evident by his serving on the Dolgeville School Board as a member and President, and continuing with his position on the BOCES School Board as a member from 2006-2013 and as the President from 2009-2012. While on the BOCES board Lee became very involved with the Special Needs Children, and always found time to attend their special functions, including dances, proms and graduations.

 

He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, the 210 Executive’s Association of the shoe industry, and was an avid sports enthusiast. Throughout the area he was known as a great conversationalist.

He is survived by his wife Jane, his children, Gary (Laura) Bynon of Burnt Hills, Kristin (Walter) Pawlusik of Burnt Hills, Kati Bynon of New Jersey, and a Sister Margo Bynon of Dolgeville. He also leaves his grandchildren Michael (Lauren) Bynon, Matthew, Lindsay, Alexandra and Sofia. He was predeceased by his parents, and his brother Gary.

 

A funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday, September 28th, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Church, Helmer Avenue Dolgeville. Rev. Terrance Healy will be the celebrant, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Burial will be in the Dolgeville Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home 3 Faville Avenue Dolgeville.
